Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Outdoor Movie Set for Saturday at Canal Place

Canal Place Preservation & Development Authority kicks off the BB&T Movies Under The Stars at Canal Place series this Saturday, June 25 at dusk with the blockbuster hit Star Wars: The Force Awakens (PG-13). This film is Rated PG-13 for sci-fi action violence. Parents are strongly cautioned as some material may be inappropriate for children under 13.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens, is set thirty years after the defeat of the Galactic Empire. In the film, the galaxy faces a new threat from the evil Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) and the First Order. When a defector named Finn crash-lands on a desert planet, he meets Rey (Daisy Ridley), a tough scavenger whose droid contains a top-secret map. Together, the young duo joins forces with Han Solo (Harrison Ford) to make sure the Resistance receives the intelligence concerning the whereabouts of Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill), the last of the Jedi Knights.

BB&T’s Movies Under The Stars at Canal Place is FREE, and takes place on the crescent lawn at Canal Place. Moviegoers are encouraged to bring a blanket or lawn chair (no alcohol or glass containers allowed) and relax under the stars. Movies will begin after sunset or approximately 8:45 p.m., but guests are encouraged to visit early and tour the canal boat replica, enjoy shopping and dining at the Shops at Canal Place. In addition to Star Wars, the BB&T movie series at Canal Place will present Finding Nemo (G) on Saturday, July 30 and Cars on Saturday, August 27.
